Windows 8 Virtual Box Step by Step -

The process presented is design for Virtual Box, mainly because is the only software that supports Windows 8 in a virtual machine.

Steps – Get ready

-          Run Virtual Box, click in New

-          Enter a name for your Virtual Machine

-          In the section Operating System, please enter Windows

-          Version, Windows 8 (32/64) that depends in the setup of the host computer, click in Next

-          Select the memory capacity that you will use:
o   Recommended (1GB of RAM for Windows 8)

-          Click in Next to continue

-          Next step is to set up and virtual hard drive, capacity (20 GB) of space. This is the minimum capacity for Windows 8 to run.
o   Keep in mind, you can always increase the capacity later on

-          Select start up hard drive and create new virtual disc, follow up by OK
In the new version of Virtual Box you can create virtual disc with different formats. VDI (Native the Virtual Box) VMDK for VMware y VHD for Microsoft Virtual Technology, all this varies base of the taste of the consumer; for instance the best option is VMDK, mainly because you can use the disc using VMware. You can select either one you want, yet I prefer the native form VDI

-          For localization and size of the virtual disc choose Dynamic, with this option the storage format will expand base on the requirements of use. This will make a fast Virtual Machine, efficient and with less used space in the host computer. Click in Next

-          In this next window you can expand the size of the disc; the recommended option is to not increase the size higher than 30GB. Click in Next  to continue

-          With this we will have finished preparing the Virtual Machine to start the installation process of Windows 8, please Click in create

-          You will get a summary of the process preform

-          Now, Select Settings -> System -> Processor Tab, checkbox PAE/NX.

-          Go to the tab Acceleration if is available, here check the following checkbox VT-x/AMD-V and Assign Pages, then click OK
Go back to the configuration window, there select Storage, here we will set up the controller IDE Virtual.

-          Click in Empty

-          In the attributes section we can select an ISO, using the search option (Disc figure) we need to located the image store of Windows 8, which we should have download previously Windows 8 Download; after we have selected the ISO, click in OK.

-          Once you have started the Virtual Machine with the installation process, this will request at some point the password which will be provided at the time of download from the website above.
Note – If you wish to synchronize your operating system with USB, Printers and other external devices, after the installation have been completed, continue with download the following.

To resolve issues with Internet Explorer such as (Stop Working, Unable to Open, Unable to browser and more….) please follow the steps below:


Step 1 – Navigate in Private
-          To find out if the issue is being cause by and add-on that has been install recently, the best way to test this would be to use Internet Explorer without Add-ons
-          Click the Start Menu
-          In the search box (Located in the bottom section of the Start Menu) write the following
o   Internet Explorer without Add-ons
-          Check if the internet works, try out a few websites

Step 2 – Reset Internet Explorer
-          First close all Internet Explorer windows
-          Re-Open Internet Explorer
-          Click the Wrench symbol located at the top right side of the Window (This are Internet Explorer Tools)
-          In the new menu, select Internet Options
-          In the new Windows, there is a series of tabs allow the top; please select Advanced tab
-          In this sections there is a list of (select/unselect) options, after that there are two buttons
o Reset Advance Settings
o Reset…

Note – By selecting this option Reset all the changes made to Internet Explorer will be reset to default settings. All History, Favorites and other options that you select will be erased.

Also an easy way to reset Internet Explorer would be to use Microsoft Fix It, if you wish to download it and run it. Press the link that appears below

Step 3 – Clean the temporal files
-          Click the Start button and open Internet Explorer
-          Top right corner of Internet Explorer Window, click in Tools (Wrench picture), here select Internet Options
-          General tab; under the History Section select Delete
-          In the new windows, select all the options (if you wish to keep your favorites and cookies) unselect those options, then once again Delete

Step 4 – Reset WinSock
-          To reset this tool, press the link to download it, make sure you located in the desktop for easy finding

Step 5 – If all fails, Uninstall Internet Explorer
-          Step 1 – Uninstall
-           Click in the Start button
-          Select type Control Panel, follow up by selecting (Category view – Uninstall a Program) (Small icon view – Programs and characteristics)
-          In the new window, left side; click in the option View Updates Install
-          Search in the list of updates for Internet Explorer 9
-          Select it, and click in uninstall
Note – You can always go back to a previous version of Internet Explorer as long you have upgraded the version. Only the default browser that came with the PC cannot be removed or return to a previous version.

-          Click in the Start button

- Click Start button
- Select Control Panel
o Programs
o Uninstall
- In the list of application install in Windows, located:
o Java
o Adobe Flash
o Microsoft Silverlight
- Select each one of those application and uninstall them, when the process is done restart the PC

Office Export 2008/2011

Office Export 2008/2011 –


This process will allow you to generate an Export process .olm/.pst for purposes of backup or transfer data from Outlook/Entourage  to another e - mail software.
Step 1 – Create .olm or .pst

-          Open Microsoft Entourage or Outlook 2011
-          Select File (Located in the top left side corner) and select the option Export…


-          In the new Export menu, you will have a choose to select what would you like to export
o   Mail
o   Contacts
o   Calendar
o   Task
o   Notes
Note – my preference is to make two olm or pst. One with the whole, which includes mail, contacts, calendar, task and notes and a separate one that only includes (Contact & Calendar) this is for backup purposes.

Search Engine

Search Engine –

To change the search engine in your web browser, first determine which one do you have Install and use. The following steps will only show Google Chrome and Internet Explorer.
Internet Explorer –
Step 1 – Internet Explorer Options

-          Open you web browser Internet Explorer
-          Click the Wrench symbol located at the top right side of the Window (This are Internet Explorer Tools)

- -    In the new menu, select Internet Options
- -    In the bottom part of the new window, you will find the Search section. Please click in the Settings button to change or verify your web search engine
o   Google
o   Bing
o   Yahoo



- -     If you wish to change it, follow the steps below
- -     In the Add-on window, at the bottom left side corner there is an option Find more search Providers
- -     Click the option to continue
- -     A Internet Explorer website will be one, here you can choose which Search Provider you would like to have


Step 2 – Google Chrome
-          Open Google web browser
-          Click the Wrench symbol located at the top right side of the Window (This are Tools)

- In the section Basic, you will find the section Search


- -     There is a list menu, here by just doing a click it will show you the other search engines, the one that appears at the current moment it’s the default Search Engine

Internet Explorer options and issue with Graphics & Videos


Sometimes neither of the ones above makes the trick to resolve the issue here is when we need to check an option inside Internet Explorer to force it please Accelerated Graphics.

Java, Adobe and Adobe Macromedia:

Step 1 – Remove Flash/Adobe Shockwave/Java Script
- Click Start button
- Select Control Panel
o Programs
o Uninstall
- In the list of application install in Windows, located:
o Java
o Adobe Flash
o Microsoft Silverlight

In the advance tab you will find a list of check and uncheck option. Search in this long list the option Accelerated Graphics, and make sure its Check

-          When you are done, press ok and check the website one more time.

Windows 8 Upgrade –


Windows 8 Upgrade –

Frist above all, before you decided to start the Upgrade process make sure you have a backup of your information. The process of Upgrade follows a procedure that has a backup system call Windows. Old but during this process there is risk.

Step 1 – Backup using Windows Easy Transfer
-          Click in the Start Button
-          Write down the following in the white box (Search box) Windows Easy Transfer
-          In the list of results, the first option will be Windows Easy Transfer, please click in Windows Easy Transfer icon to continue.

Note – Windows Easy Transfer is available in Windows XP, Vista y 7. In order to acquire the software for Windows XP click the link below to download it.

Step 2 – Insert or run Windows 8 file to being the installation process
-          After the backup process have been completed, run the file (if you download it) or insert the disc to begin the process
-          You will be requested to re-start your PC
-          A loading scree will appear


-          Right after the quick loading screen you will see the well know (Select my language), current currency format and keyboard set up. When you are done with this process, press Next

-          The new Windows will display Install Now
-          Press on it to continue 
-          Agree to the terms and conditions, then Next

-          Select the type of Upgrade
o   Upgrade – This option will generate a folder call Windows. Old, here the system will store all the information from the old operating system
o   Custom (Advance) – This option will not keep any of your old files


From this point on, the system will start the installation process. This can take from 20 to 45 minutes all depends in the performance of the machine.

.Net Framework Error 80070643 –

This kind of issues mostly occur when the installation Tool, .Net Framework install doesn´t work correctly; of course there are other possibilities, but when this comes while you are trying to install something, it’s better to start testing .Net Frame.

In order to resolve the issue, please follow the steps below:
Step 1 – Run the Fix It utility

-          Click in the link that appears bellow,
-          Make sure to download the took in the Desktop (For easy localization)
-          When the download is completed, close all windows and run the tool (Double click in the icon from the Desktop)
-          Follow the instructions given by the Tool
-          When all the process has been completed, restart the PC
