Definition Update

When do you need to follow this procedure?

There are few occasion that Windows Update or the the tool itself is not able to update. You might receive and error that refer you to issues with Windows Update but if the only process you were preforming at the moment was Update  (Definitions & Virus) it points to issues with the server at the time of update the security tool

To download the most updated Definitions for Microsoft Security Essentials please follow the steps below:

- Make sure you download the appropriate version (32bits & 64bits)
- Click the link of the version you wish to download

- When download the files i recommend that you store saved it in the desktop so its easy to find
- After the download is completed please go to the desktop (or where you save the file) and double click on it to run the file.
- Wait until the file finish its process
- Restart the PC

Step 1 – Startup your system in Safe Mode

-          To perform this process you will have to Startup your system (If on, just re-start the PC), as soon as you see the PC starting up press the F8 Key more than one time until you reach the advance startup options.

o   Repair your PC

o   Safe mode

o   Safe mode with Network

o   Sade Mode with Command Prompt

o   Enable Boot Logging

o   Enable low-resolution video (640 x 480)

-          Download the tool in a location that will be easy to find (the Desktop)

-          After the download is completed, run the tool (Double click the icon)

-          Accept the terms of the tool

-          Select the Complete Analysis, and click in Next

-          Wait until the scan is completed

Note – Keep in mind that this tool will be updated after 10 days. You cannot use the same download version twice. If you wish to re-run the tool in the future you will have to download it again.
