Step 1 - Gmail Account process
- Open your Gmail account
- Click Wrench image
- Select Settings
- There will be several tabs (Labels) please select Forwarding and POP/IMAP
- In the new section there are some choices you can select (POP Download):
* Enable POP for all mail (even mail that's already been downloaded)
* Leave the option 2 (When messages are accessed with POP - Leave a copy in GMAIL)
* That way you can always have a copy in Google servers
- After we have complete this step in Gmail Account we can move on with the Outlook set up.
Step 2 - Outlook Settings
- Please Open your Microsoft Outlook
- If this is the first time you open Outlook you will get a screen requesting a step by step set up; if this isn’t the case you will have to go to File and select the option of Add Account
Set up Screen (First Time)
- Select the radio button with the option (Configure it manually) at the bottom of the windows
- Then press Next
- In the new windows (Choose a serves) select the option
* Internet Email
- Then press Next
- In the new window (Internet Email Settings) is where we need to set up all the options according to the ones that we set up in Gmail
- Please enter the necessary Information
* Your Name
* Email
* Password
* Account Type – IMAP
* Incoming mail server – imap.gmail.com
* Outgoing mail server (SMTP) – smtp.gmail.com
- Press More Settings
- Once we get to the Internet Email Settings, select the Advance Settings Tab in order to change the Port Numbers
* Incoming server (IMAP) to 993 and use SSL as the encrypted connection.
* Outgoing server (SMTP) to 587 and use TLS as the encrypted connection.
- After this, select the Tab - Outgoing Server
- Click in the check box (My outgoing server STMP requires identification), then select the radio button (Use the same settings as incoming server)
- Press OK
Back in the Add an Email account windows, select the button to Test Account Settings; this will check both servers (incoming and outgoing) verifying the password. After the verification is done, press in Close, then Next to finish the process.
